WIAW-Trip to Newport

Happy WIAW :)

Breakfast

I’ve been battling a cold/sore throat for a while so the only thing that sounded appealing this morning was a green monster smoothie

A Peanut butter and Jelly Green Monster!

  • 2 cups baby spinach
  • 1/2 cup plain greek yogurt
  • 1/2 tbsp raspberry jam
  • 1 tbsp peanut butter
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • some ice

deeelish. I even got my brother to try some..he was a little freaked out by the green color but he liked it!

after breakfast Jeff (the bro) and I hit the road for Newport, RI

It was a beautiful day at Nanny’s house :)

We went for lunch at the Atlantic Beach Club, aka Johnny’s. We were hoping to sit outside but the outside area wasn’t really open yet..and it was slightly cooler on the water than we thought it would be.

I started with a glass of sauv. blanc from new zealand and shrimp cocktail

fun fact: when I was two years old I climbed up on the appetizer table and ate a whole bowl of cocktail sauce. plain. just the sauce…quite a sophisticated palate I had :)

And for lunch I got another appetizer, steamed mussels in a white wine garlic broth. mmmm I love mussels

Work Out

once we got home I took Duke to Wellesley College for a nice 2.5 mile run. We made it just in time before the rain started!

Snack

At lunch my Nanny asked me if I’d ever tried cottage cheese and salsa together. I said that I had and remembered what a delicious combination it is. So for a snack I had just that..cottage cheese and salsa

Turkey chili with leftover roasted sweet potatoes, topped with avocado, scallions, shredded cheddar cheese, and sriracha

mmm so good. I ate it way too fast though…I hate when I do that!

Dessert

some delicious berries and a few chocolate chips that missed the picture.

time to do some blog reading, head to the gym, and then go in to work later

Your lunch looks epic! Apple cider vinegar is great for a sore throat.. just don’t try and drink it by itself! :)
