WIAW-Last few days in Australia

by admin on January 16, 2013

hello friends!

Peas and Crayonshappy WIAW!

I can’t believe my time in Australia has already come to an end. I’m really sad about leaving such a beautiful beach town but I’m extremely excited to embark on our New Zealand adventures!

The past couple of days I have been spending a lot of time going to the beach..gotta soak up all the beach time and sun while I can!

Yesterday I even tried out paddle boarding for the first time!

here we come!

stopping for a picture :) Paddle boarding was a lot of fun! We decided to be adventurous and paddled out pretty far to check out this other beach. Little did I know coming back into shore would be WAY more challenging. I wiped out a couple of times (which my friend Rob found to be HYSTERICAL. rude. lol)

paddling back I went on my knees for a little while because I found it easier to gain momentum that way. It was quite the leg and arm work out!

some recent eats lately!

IMG_3279

chicken curry for lunch one day at the school! I was in LOVE with this lunch..most people on my trip hated it but that just meant more for me..muhahaha

the other night we tried out a place called MOO burger

IMG_3282

we sat outside with an excellent beach front view

doesn’t get much better than that!

pic at dinner. excuse my gross beach hair

I decided on the Lentil Veggie Burger

the burger was MASSIVE. I decided to forgo the bun and just ate all the filler. look at all that avocado! I was a huge fan

I also split a basket of fries with Rob

IMG_3285

our eyes were clearly bigger than our stomachs..this basket had way more fries than we could eat. The Australian’s know how to make some seriously good french fries

last night for dinner we went to another restaurant along the beach front called Mex and Co

Rob and I split the chicken fajitas. They were AWESOME. I especially loved the veggies and the guac. om nom nom

Today after class (our last classes of the trip are complete WAHOO) we went to a new beach a few locals had told us we should check out where you can go cliff jumping!

at first I was completely opposed to the idea of cliff jumping.. but everyone in my group was doing it and I just couldn’t miss out! The cliff was about 30 feet high if I were to guess. BAHH it was awesome!! Jumping once was enough for me but I’m so happy I did it!

The other amazing thing about the beach..an ice cream boat pulled up to the beach! how cool right?!

large-1

I went for a good ole’ drumstick. Hit the spot in the hot weather!

So my time in Australia has come to an end :( I’m going to miss the beaches here, the australian accents (especially from the aussie boys :) ) , and so much more!

I’m on my way to New Zealand where I’ll be for 2 weeks doing lots of traveling and wine tasting..stay tuned for recaps!

have a great day everyone!

I have been wanting to go paddle boarding for years now. Lucky you! ;) It definitely looks and sounds challenging, though. I bet it is a great workout.

That lentil burger looks AWESOME! And the fact that it had chili jam on it sounds absolutely delicious. You should probably recreate this burger and then post the recipe ;) .
