The Sydney Opera House

by admin on January 6, 2013

hi!

I can’t believe I’ve only been in Australia for 3 days because I feel like I’ve already done so much (and spent so much EEK) in such a short amount of time

Our group went on a tour of the Opera house Saturday morning

We took the ferry over to Sydney where I was able to get some of my best pictures of the Opera house itself

It was so surreal to finally see the Opera House in person. It is absolutely breath-taking

we got to go on a tour of the inside. What I didn’t know before is the Opera house is made up of two separate buildings. We were given tours of 3 of the theaters inside but weren’t allowed to take any pictures of them.

I got to snap a picture of the snazzy purple carpet though

In my next life I’m going to be an Opera singer, live in Sydney, and perform at the Sydney Opera house. Could you even imagine?! I die.

Outside the Opera House there are a ton of restaurants right by the water. Because it is prime tourist season in Australia so the place was packed!

After the tour we walked over to a location called “the rocks” which is a huge outdoor market in Sydney

There were so many different clothing stands and food stands. I was starving at this point and wanted to eat everything. One stand in particular looked particularly intriguing

mini cupcakes!! weee!  :)

I went for a mini passionfruit cupcake

unfortunately it didn’t taste as good as it looked but oh well..it still wasn’t terrible. I’m obsessed with passionfruit though!

My lunch on the other hand was a lot better! I got a roasted pumpkin, walnut pesto, feta cheese, and spinach wrap from another stand at the market

Yum.

Before we got lunch we went to sign up for the Sydney Harbor bridge walk

IMG_5140

You see where the flags are at the top of the bridge?

We’re climbing all the way up and over the bridge following the outline of the bridge. The whole walk takes about an hour to complete but you have to go through training before completing the walk for all of the safety precautions. We’re going tomorrow afternoon I’m so excited

I went to the Zoo today so I’ll have to share with you some of those pictures!

as for dinner tonight we went to a really delicious Thai restaurant called Mortar and Pistal. I split the chicken satay and Jungle Curry with my friend

The curry was insanely spicy but luckily Lauren and I both really like spicy dishes so we both loved it!

Time to go read before class tomorrow. I forgot I actually have to do some studying on this trip…lol.

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Ever since the Olympics I have been fascinated with the Sydney Opera House. It is so cool that you got to go on a tour!! Jealous! ;)

Those mini cupcakes are adorable and look delicious…though, since they are mini I am pretty certain I would need at least 2! ;)
