Good Morning!
so i’m not sure why but Kale totally freaks me out. I’ve seen a lot of recipes around the blog world for beautiful kale salads that I want to try but i just could never get myself to buy kale at the store
but the other day when I was at trader joes I picked up a bag because my best friend Lindsay told me that I HAD to try her Kale shake recipe
yes I know you can’t actually taste the kale in the shakes..but baby steps people..i still have LOTS of kale left so I’m planning on trying to make a salad with it soon enough!
so yesterday for breakfast I made my mom and I Lindsay’s Kale Shake!
Lindsay’s Kale Shake!
for one shake
- 3/4 cup Almond milk
- 1/2 cup brewed coffee (cooled)
- 1 cup kale (or you could use spinach)
- 1 tbsp almond butter
- 1/2 frozen banana
- 1/4 tsp of each: clove, nutmeg, cinnamon, ground ginger
- 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
- 1/2 cup ice cubs
this shake is AWESOME. even my mom liked it!
yesterday before I went to work I made myself ANOTHER kale shake!
Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Kale Shake
Makes 1 shake
- 1 scoop chocolate protein powder
- 1/2 frozen banana
- 1 cup kale
- 3/4 cup almond milk
- 1 tbsp PB2 or 1/2 tbsp peanut butter
- 1 tsp cocoa powder
- 1/2 packet sweetner ( optional)
- ice
protein shakes are the perfect thing to have before working a long shift at the restaurant!

this morning I woke up and went straight to the farmers market with my mom! we picked up some fresh produce, a zucchini loaf, and homemade BAGELS
look at the size of this bagel! these are definitely good bagels to share! this bagel is spinach and herb..so good!
i made my mom and I a big egg white and roasted veggie omelet to share to have alongside our scooped out bagel
I always scoop out my bagels to save some extra calories and I really don’t miss the doughy middle of the bagel at all. Fresh farmers market blueberries completed the meal..GAH they are so good
that reminds me one summer I was forced convinced by my friends back when I was 12 to “work” at our local organic farm. we were paid $1 an hour..yes only $1 and we had to do glamorous jobs such as milking goats, shoveling compost, etc..it was AWFUL. I am not one to rough it so I was miserable the whole 2 weeks lol
but one of the best jobs was picking the fresh blueberries (because i would eat the majority of the blueberries i picked
)
its not a nice day out and I’m not working until 5 today so I’m not sure what the rest of the day has in store for me..i’m currently sitting on the couch watching food network..maybe I’ll look to Pinterest to get inspired for a work out I can do today.maybe.
i hope everyone has a great day!

I actually just recently bought kale from TJs as I too am very curious to try this since everyone seems to rave about it. I had it in a smoothie and it was really good. I have yet to make a kale salad or anything, but I’m glad to have tried something new. I’ll def. be trying these smoothies! Thanks for sharing!
Spinach and herb bagel?? That sounds so good!
I do like kale! I had “garlicky kale” at the vegetarian festival and it was just kale with this garlic tahini dressing (which they sell at whole foods) and it was so good!!!
I like kale! It’s kind of bitter though, so you have to prepare it the right way. Look up some recipes online
Or I just steam it in a pan with some water, olive oil, and seasoning!
thanks i’ll try that!
Your whole breakfast looks delicous!!
& as much as people love Kale, I just can’t get myself to like it no matter how many different things I try it with/in.
i’m glad someone is with me on the non-kale loving wagon!
