Recent Eats + Randomness

Good Morning

I am currently laying in bed and my body is aching

working for 11 hours straight in a restaurant is no joke people

I’ve been in the process of training as a waitress at my new job and I only have 3 shifts to go before I am done with training!

Thursday night I had the night off because it was my brothers birthday and we went out to dinner at this really cool new restaurant in Boston called Happy’s

the restaurant has only been open for a few weeks but my family was really impressed with the food and service for being such a new restaurant

we started out with the “D.I.Y” nachos which were SO cool

the nachos came with a side bowl of tortilla chips and a lazy susan filled with all the different toppings: there was hot peppers, guac, olives, sour cream, salsa, and an AMAZING homemade cheese sauce

we also ordered the “crispy meatballs” to start which were also equally delicious

the only bad part of the meal was my dinner actually. I got their famous “chopped salad” which had a bunch of different ingredients in it like chicken, ham, asparagus, radishes, broccoli, carrots, etc..but I really just wasn’t feeling it at all

i took about 2 bites of my salad and then ate a quarter of my brothers burger (which was amazing obviously) and some of his old bay seasoned fries

and then since it was my brother’s birthday they brought out this

a huge birthday sundae which we demolished..they even had a really fudgey brownie at the bottom..ugh it was so freaking good.

some other random recent happenings

duke still doesn’t know how to swim in our pool so when his tennis ball falls in he just runs around the pool freaking out. its quite amusing to watch

hes dumb. but really cute also

working in a restaurant you have to get use to going HOURS without eating. yesterday I ate breakfast( a ham, egg, and cheese omelet and a muffin) around 9, lunch ( a grilled chicken, apple, and goat cheese salad from the restaurant at 3:30) and came home at 10 and had this bowl of cereal

I had a mix of banana cheerios and special k with a sliced banana and almond milk. hit. the spot.

I also made my brother boxed brownies for his birthday (per request) and added in some chocolate chips to the batter before baking. I don’t know why that made them so good but they are SO good..especially with a little peanut butter smeared on top

i need to step away from the brownies.

one of my favorite snacks ever is an idea I got from Mama Pea‘s first cookbook called a “crack wrap”

its just mozzarella cheese, hummus, and a tortilla. and its literally the best combination ever.

I wish I could say I had fun exciting plans for memorial day weekend but i don’t.

instead I’m just working tonight and all day tomorrow. saweeeeeet

I’m going to lay in bed for a while, go down and eat some breakfast, MAYBE.(.okay probably not my body is aching) do a quick work out, and then lay by the pool until work

catch ya later!

I loved waitressing when I did it for two years but boy are you tired and sore. My body would ache after long shifts. It is truly a tough job but the money is so worth it!

Your SO right! Working in a restaurant is much harder than one would think. I recently started at one and I always come home sore, thirsty, and hungry. So when it comes time for sleep, I welcome it with open arms ;)

Seriously when I was a server, I would leave work SWEATING like I had just worked out. Definitely no joke!
