Happy 2012 everyone!
Yesterday I pretty much did nothing all day..and by “pretty much” I mean I actually did nothing. pretty pathetic..but hey, it happens
So I just thought about how in 2012 I’m going to start my junior year of college.umm WHAT. So weird. I don’t like how time goes by so fast!
But anyways, the first highlight of my day yesterday was our new years day dinner made by my mom!
The meal included
Slow cooked pork tenderloin in sauerkraut- this recipe used from Julia Child!
A pork roast
Black beans
Homemade Applesauce
Mashed potatoes
Roasted sweet potatoes
Quite the spread!
My mom had Pork and Sauerkraut every new years day growing up, and has passed down the tradition to us!..it is a German tradition and is suppose to bring luck for the New Year!
The pork that was browned and cooking in the sauerkraut for 2 hours..it was so tender! My mom said the Julia child recipe was a little hard to follow, but it turned out to be a success. My mom is also an amazing cook, so I had no doubt it would turn out delicious!
Here was my plate
I love when my mom makes homemade applesauce! I had some of the leftovers for breakfast this morning with greek yogurt, banana, and almond butter. I was going to take a picture to show you, but my camera was upstairs, I was downstairs, and I’m clearly too lazy to walk up a flight of stairs..
I will definitely be keeping this tradition for my family someday!

Question for ya!: Do you have a new years day dinner tradition?
Mine is always this meal, but I know a lot of people have black eyed peas and ham!

I cannot believe I’m going to be a Junior either. Time seriously FLYSSS!! Your dinner looks delicious! I don’t have any New Year’s day traditions.
Ooh that pork looks really delicious! There’s this rice cake soup that we’re supposed to eat, but my mom didn’t make it when I got home yesterday because she said she had enough of it when she was at church lol.
that sounds so interesting! haha well maybe she’ll make it next new years day!
